Naha Airport is Japan’s 7th busiest airport. Opened in 1933 as the Oroku Aerodrome and renamed as Naha Airport in 1945, this airport is also often referred to as “Okinawa Airport” as it is one of the main air transport hubs on the island. Currently, the airport handles both domestic and local flights with the latter being handled at the International Terminal and the former at the Main Terminal. Here are some more things that you should know about Naha Airport.

1. How to get there

Ever since the Okinawa Urban Monorail or the Yui Rail was completed, Naha Airport has been more accessible than ever. The Yui Rail is one of the best and most practical ways to get around Naha, too. It stretches to about 12.8 kilometers starting from Naha Airport and ending at Shuri Castle with a total of 15 stations in between. If you’re not fond of train rides, you can also reach the airport by car (private, rental, or taxi), bus, or via shuttle services which are often provided by hotels.

2. Check flight schedules and details online

If you want to double check details of your flight or check out flight schedules for loved ones who are coming in through Naha Airport, you can easily and conveniently do so by going online and visiting Naha Airport’s official website which is http://www.naha-airport.co.jp/en/. You can also find out more about the airport in general by visiting and exploring the site.

3. Floor guide

Being serviced by a number of different airlines for both local and international flights, it is only understandable that Naha Airport receives a lot of traffic on a daily basis. Thankfully, the airport is large enough to comfortably accommodate all travelers. With four floors that serve their own dedicated purposes, Naha Airport, while extremely busy, is rarely a chaotic sight. The first and second floors are for arrival and departure accordingly, the third floor is where you’ll find the ticketing / check-in lobby and the topmost floor is where restaurants and shops are.
