Malaga-Costa del Sol is merely 8km away from the city center. It is excellently connected to the whole of Costa del Sol. The Malaga airport is one of the oldest Spanish airports and the first location of airlines in Spain founded back in 1919.

There are many buses that connect the Malaga airport to the center of Malaga, nearby towns and various other Andalusian cities. It takes merely 15 minutes to reach the center of the city through a bus ride from the airport. The terminal T4 is connected to several key locations of Costa del Sol by a suburban train line. It takes 10 – 15 minutes of a train journey to reach nearby areas from the airport.

There are check-in desks, automatic check-ins as well as online check-in facility at the airport in Malaga. Most of the check-in desks are on the first floor. You can check which desk has been assigned to you on the information screens. The rule is to arrive well in time, at least 2-3 hours before the flight is scheduled to take off. There is online check in also available at the respective websites of every airline. There are automatic check-ins at the airport too.

3. Security

The Malaga Airport has strict security. The passengers accessing the boarding areas have to undergo metal detector tests and the items they carry along with them are made to pass an X-ray inspection. You also need your boarding pass before going for the security check. Small trays are provided for objects like small articles pass through the metal detector scanner or the X-ray. If you are taking a plane to a not Schengen country, you also have to go through document control formalities.
