Located in Toyohira-ku, Sapporo, Sapporo Dome is an impressive stadium that was built in 2001, right before The World Cup. It is an interesting building that can be used for both baseball and football games and it is a home of Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters baseball team, as well as Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo which play in the second division of Japanese football league. This stadium will be used even more in the future since it will be one of the venues for 2020 Summer Olympics and 2019 Rugby World Cup.

As I have previously mentioned, Sapporo Dome is the home of Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo football team. Their fans are incredible, passionate about football, and very supportive. They often create an incredible atmosphere on the stadium and you simply have to experience it for yourself. It doesn’t matter if you are a football fan or not – you will absolutely enjoy it.

If you think that baseball in popular in the United States only, you are very wrong. Japan has its own professional baseball league and it is huge. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters play the majority of their home games at Sapporo Dome and the stadium is often filled to the full capacity. You can only imagine the feeling of thousands of fans cheering for their favorite team.

4. Gorgeous architecture
Sapporo Dome is a work of art. Designed by Hiroshi Hara, it is one of a handful of stadiums that can completely change the surface, depending on the game that is played. Baseball games are played on an artificial surface while the football field is completely retractable and can be used as needed. Plus, Sapporo Dome looks absolutely gorgeous from the outside with its fixed roof and futuristic design.

What makes Sapporo Dome stand out from all the other stadiums is the fact that there are numerous installations and artworks displayed both inside and outside of the stadium. Created by some of the most prominent Japanese artists, they complement Sapporo Dome and go along with the overall modern design.
It doesn’t matter if you are a sports fan or not, Sapporo Dome will make an impression on you. It is a beautiful building that will take your breath away. Plus, you can have a lot of fun watching the games there. So pack your bags and head to Sapporo.
