Hakone Ropeway operates between  Sōunzan and Tōgendai via Ōwakudani starting from the base of Lake Ashi, Nearly a 30 min ride. The ride provides beautiful scenes of Rising fumes of Volcanos, Lake Ashi and also breathtaking views of Mt Fuji. The Hakone Ropeway service operates at an interval of 1 min, the wagon has the capacity to carry 18 members.

The best part of riding on Ropeway is it provides spectacular views of Mt Fuji, Mt Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan just 95 km from Tokyo. The Ropeway is popular for the breathtaking views of Mt Fuji. Mt. Fuji is visible only if the sky is clear.

3. Owakudani

Owakudani is popularly known as The Great Boiling valley, it is a volcanic active valley with active sulphur vents and hot springs. The Ropeway provides the best view of the valley. Make sure you get down at this station and enjoy the black eggs which are boiled in the sulpher vents. It is believed that these eggs will increase your longevity.

Unfortunately, the valley and the part between Ubako and Sounzan is closed due to the risk of volcanic eruption. Instead, substitute shuttle bus service is available between Ubako and Sōunzan. ( As of April 2016)

4. Lake Ashi

The journey begins at the base of Lake Ashi, the view of the lake from the Ropeway is awesome. The Lake Ashi was created due the volcanic explosions. We recommend you to take the ride in the mornings or evening.

5. Ride to the highest peak in Hakone – Mt. Komagatake

Mt. Komagatake is a 1357-meter high lava dome, formed as a result of a volcanic eruption. There is a Shrine at the peak standing under the gaze of Mt. Fuji. The ropeway is the best, fastest and convenient way to reach the peak. It just takes about 7 min to reach the peak. You need to take Hakone Komagatake ropeway to reach here.
