This is the old, historic, noisy, and colorful part of the Monterey. If you plan your trip to Fisherman’s Bay you can expect lovely atmosphere, stunning bay scene, and plenty of seafood. Fisherman’s Wharf is a nice change of pace from Cannery Row and you should stick here a couple of hours, at least, relax and enjoy your day.

This is a wharf rich with history. In the sixties, it was mostly used as a large-scale fish market. Eventually, it became what it is today, a tourist attraction. The fish market is called Old Fisherman’s Wharf to make a distinction from the commercial part of the bay. In the first half of the 20th century, the main business was the sardine sale. After the sardine population dropped local residents started to attract the visitors as an alternative.

At the Fisherman’s Wharf entrance you will see the Custom House Plaza which is the historical center. You will find Monterey Maritime Museum here.
