Once a small village, Ikebukuro is now one of Tokyo’s most popular and largest neighborhoods. Its station is the second busiest, not only in Japan, but in the world! Almost 3 million passengers pass through this station every day. That is one of the reasons why Ikebukuro has become one of the largest and most visited Tokyo’s neighborhoods. 1. Agalico

If you want to taste some nice Vietnamese and other Asian food in great atmosphere, go to this late-night oriental bistro. 3. Club Bed

Just a walk away from the west exit of JR Ikebukuro station, set in the basement near the Tokyo Art Theater, there is this night club especially perfect if you are into modern European music. The customers are usually on the young side since the music is mostly hip hop and occasionally they play some house or techno. What is interesting about the place is that they offer a variety of live performances, so if you are into dancing, you can really enjoy your visit.

4. The Dubliners’ Irish Pub

Just a few minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro West Exit, there is this paradise for all sake lovers. It is good to make a reservation in advance, since the place is usually packed. It is a standing bar with no seats offering a selection of more than 100 different types of nihonshu. When you pay the entrance fee, you are free to browse and pick out anything from the fridges around the bar counter. It is great to come with your friends, and you are also allowed to bring some of your own food and enjoy the long drinking sessions. This live jazz music club has not been in Tokyo’s jazz scene for long, but it has gained a great reputation. It is always open for the best new musicians from the area. The place is very simple with a box-like interior in a basement. The audience sit close to the musicians, so the atmosphere is quite nice with all those music lovers. The club offers wonderful sound dynamics, and the place sounds live in a natural way. The laidback atmosphere will make you feel at home.

This great little pub is open 365 days a year and is located close to the West Exit of Ikebukuro Station. It is a British-style pub with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect to get together with your friends and have some casual drink after a long working day. They also have a really good food and it all comes in a great pub like atmosphere with a small stage where they host live performances and open mic nights.
