Tennōji Zoo is built within the vicinity Tennōji Park in Tennōji. It is the 3rd zoo in Japan This zoo opened its door to the public in January of 1915 and is considered as one of the oldest zoos in Japan. It is one of the favorite tourist spots and has more than 1.5 million visitors yearly.

1. 2nd Biggest Zoo

There are numerous zoos that you can visit in Japan. Tennōji Zoo is the 2nd biggest zoo next to Ueno Zoo situated in Tokyo. Tennōji Zoo has a total land area of 100,000 square meters. This zoo is also known for its natural setting instead of having the animals enclosed in a cage.

2. The 10%

The 10% is produced by a circle of students from Osaka University of Arts. They are free to choose in producing projects that they want including commercials, movies, animation, and promotional videos. All the original movies that were produced are shown at the school festival of Osaka University of Arts. Every summer, members also take part in the project called “College Night.”

3. Home To More Than 1,000 Animals

Tennōji Zoo is well loved not only by locals but by foreign visitors as well. This zoo is the home to more than 1,000 animals of 230 types of species. This zoo aims to uphold the original habitat of these animals. Animals live comfortably in the zoo and they are given enough space where they can freely move. Some of the animals that live in this zoo are the zebra, giraffes, lions, elephants and polar bear.

4. African Savanna

Animals are grouped into herbivores and carnivores and are given enough space where they can live comfortably. Watching the tigers, lions and hyenas roaming around would give you a feeling of what it feels to live in Africa. In this zoo, you will also see the first underwater pool where you can watch the hippos swimming with the fish.

5. Asian Tropical Jungle

There is another zone in Tennōji Zoo where you can see huge bird cage with different types of birds. Seeing all the birds of different colors, sizes and types will make you feel that you are in paradise. You will also see here some of the smartest animals including chimpanzees and orangutans.
