1. Habaneras Shopping Center

Open since 2005, the Habaneras Shopping Center contains a multitude of shops spread over three levels. The open air concept allows patrons to shop and enjoy at the same time what most come to Spain for-the warm and sunny weather. Aside from the stylish bars and restaurants, Habaneras Shopping Center also houses a cinema containing eight roomy auditoriums with surround sound and a 3D projector. This shopping complex is most popular among tourists, and one can often hear a mix of languages here.

2. Zenia Boulevard

Located in the neighbouring town of Orihuela Costa, right in between Torrevieja and San Javier, Zenia Boulevard is the largest shopping complex in the province of Alicante. Its 150 shops feature both domestic and international brands, with the majority of shops placed on the first floor, and restaurants on the second. A day at Zenia is a popular activity for families, and is an engaging place for individuals of all ages. The mall also offers animal shaped buggies for rent to entertain the little ones while shopping.

3. Torrevieja Main Market

Open bright and early every Friday morning at 8, this market is comprised of an estimated 1200 stalls, and is regarded as one of the largest markets in Spain. Its vendors offer a plethora of clothing, shoes, souveniers, household items, as well as the freshest fruit and vegetables. This market is an exciting place for bargain hunting and practising your Spanish is you ask for the price of things and attempt to bargain. This morning market is often teeming with locals, and though it closes at about 2PM, it is worth getting here early as the venue gets really crowded.

4. Night Market

This night market situated along the promenade between the Torrevieja marina and La Cura beach has been affectionately named the “hippie market.”  Just accessing the market provides for a breezy stroll along the waters. Its vendors offer a wide selection of locally handcrafted goods including colourful jewelery, leather bags and paintings. Though more commercialised and providing a relatively touristy atmosphere, it is still possible to find a good bargain. The night market begins at 8PM daily and closes at midnight.

5. La Plasa Market

La Plasa Market is a local indoor food market featuring an array of the freshest produce, meat, cheese and flowers. Its vendors also carry fresh seafood showcasing a selection of shellfish, tuna, prawns and clams. In fact, it is possible to observe the fishing boats that pull in each morning at the nearby Torrevieja port with their catch of the day. This is a favourite with the residents of Torrevieja as they often stock their baskets with goodies before embarking on a picnic nearby.

Carrefour is a massive complex containing just about anything one can need. Aside from a wide range of groceries, Carrefour also carries electronics, clothing, and beauty items. This is a good place to pick up some unique Spanish snack items for your transit home. Carrefour also boasts its own eatery for those who get hungry while shopping. The complex is surrounded by plenty of other food choices, a car wash, as well as a cinema. This is a one stop shop.
