The pier in Ventura is a lively and exciting area. How about those long walks with an ocean breeze in your hair? The exceptional view of the sea and the horizon. There is an unusual contemporary-age style playground on the west side of the pier. In the front of the Colony Plaza Hotel, you will find vendors selling knick-knacks and eccentric jewelry. If you go across the bridge from there you will find yourself in the Downtown Ventura. Even better, there is wide tree-lined boardwalk that heads to Surfer’s Point. Here you can just take a few breaths while listening to the waves break beside you. Nearby is the Promenade Park with showers, restrooms, and beautiful palm trees.

The surrounding beauty of Ventura is inspiring for many photographers and tourists. You can make a great photo album in only one day. Grant Park gives the excellent panoramic view of the Channel Islands, Downtown Ventura, Pier and the Pacific Ocean. The pier itself is a joy to behold. On a nice sunny day, you can fancy a serene picnic lunch as you stare into the distance and contemplate.

2. Beach and Promenade

Ventura Pier and Promenade are such a wonderful place to enjoy your leisurely walk. You can stroll along miles of uncrowded beaches and pristine, have a drink in the Victorian charm of the famous, historic Ventura pier. You can rent a kayak or one of those small electric boats so you can explore the harbor. Have some fresh seafood at one of the restaurants or go on a Channel Islands sportfishing excursion and catch your own.There is also a cool little street with a nice beach called Seaward Avenue and the seven jetties. This is one of the prettiest areas of Ventura.

Seaside shopping in a magnificent California environment. You can enjoy browsing oceanfront galleries for coastal finds and boutiques with latest trends in fashion at Ventura Harbor Village. Ventura features eclectic, locally owned shops and here you can find items you do not usually see anywhere else. There are some home and garden shops, gift stores, antique stores, and some other specialty shops. Here you can find something which will remind you of your trip to Ventura.

At one point this was the longest wooden pier on the coast of California. In the nineties, there was a storm which, after the remodeling and structural repairs, reduced the overall pier length. There were some more weather related damages but the pier will get fixed once again and visitors will again enjoy its remarkable beauty.

5. Parking

Parking is not an issue in Ventura. You can walk to the pier from downtown. California street will lead you straight toward the ocean. Parking near the Colony Plaza Hotel is $2 per hour and this is the parking which is the closest to the pier. Furthermore, there are free parking spots on the Harbord Boulevard.

6. Where to eat

There are a lot of choices if you are hungry. You have a walk up eateries and fancy restaurants. At the beginning of the pier, there is Eric Ericsson’s Seafood Restaurant, which is highly recommended. You will have an astonishing ocean view. You do not have to dig too deep in your pockets which make this place a top choice. There is a Taco place right next to this restaurant where you can also enjoy a nice way. Additionally, you have a C-Street Cafe in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. They serve really nice breakfast there.

A variety of amenities in Ventura Harbor offer boater fans and enthusiasts an easy access to the recreational fishing activities, fuel docks, rentals, vibrant yacht clubs, a new public launch ramp, boatyards, tours, cruises and the Channel Islands. The Channel Islands National Park includes five remote and extraordinary islands right next to Ventura coast (Santa Cruz, San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Barbara and Anacapa). When you are cruising the harbor do not be surprised to see sea lions sitting in the sun at the docks or coming next to your boat to take a quick glance at you.
