The Central Valley is a shopper’s paradise for residents of Fresno or everyone who find themselves here. Whether you are looking for smaller locally owned boutiques or big brand stores and restaurants, you will notice that Fresno has improved its offerings in recent years. We have summarized the choice through these ten well-known shopping malls.

1. Fashion Fair Mall

Fashion Fair is a nice, big enclosed shopping mall in Fresno, anchored by two Macy’s stores, JCPenney, and Forever 21. Since 2005, it is richer for an outdoor lifestyle wing. It is a competitor to the two outdoor shopping centers in Fresno: The Shops at River Park and Fig Garden Village. The open-air wing offers upscale retailers that are new to the Fresno market: Victoria’s Secret, Anthropologie, American Eagle, Charming Charlie, Bath and Body Works, Bebe, Sephora, Claire’s, GUESS, Michael Kors, The Cheesecake Factory, Abercrombie and Fitch, and The Apple Store. Since opening in 2005, several of The Village’s more notable tenants have shuttered, such as Urban Outfitters, Z Gallerie, Men’s Wearhouse, and BCBGMaxAzria. There is also a food section where you can get anything from Chinese food to a burger. At Christmas, you can take pictures with Santa in the center square at the main entry. The mall is somewhat crowded on weekends and holidays, and you may be difficult to find a place to park in front, but there is usually plenty of parking spaces available somewhere around the back of the mall.

2. River Park

River Park is an outdoor shopping center on the east side of Blackstone Avenue in Fresno. River Park is split into three areas: an auxiliary shopping center with Chipotle Mexican Grill, Chick-fil-A, and In-N-Out Burger; The Marketplace, a popular power center anchored by Target and Kohl’s; and an outdoor lifestyle center anchored by Macy’s, Edwards Theatres cinema and REI. Best Buy and Target were anchored in the initial phase of the project, which also included Sports Authority, Old Navy, JCPenney Home Store, Marshalls, an old-fashioned retailer Linens ‘n Things and OfficeMax. Kohl’s opened in 2004, accompanied by the shopping center’s lifestyle center. These two anchor stores have been replaced by Macy’s and H&M. This is a great place to spend time with your friends and family. There is a variety of places to dine. Many of them have outdoor seating areas so you can sit and enjoy the fresh air while people watching. You have a choice of Asian food, sushi, burgers, sandwiches, or Mediterranean. There are a candy store and a serve yourself – frozen yogurt bar if you are in the mood for dessert. You can sip on a hot tea from the tea market before heading to a movie at the theater or the Imax. Or you can do some shopping at Macy’s, Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret or a number of other little shops. Parking is slightly difficult on Friday nights. You are best off heading to the parking garage and going straight to the upper level. The garage is located right next to Edwards theater near Macy’s.

3. Fig Garden Village Shopping Center

Dining, shopping, entertainment, relaxation. You have it all at Fig Garden Village.  Out of all the shopping centers that were built in the north of Fresno in the 50s and 60s, Fig Garden Village has maintained its quality and charm for over 50 years, outlasting and surviving longer than May Fair and the Fulton Mall, and even doing better than Manchester and on par with Fashion Fair. You can find a great selection of renowned retailers and locally owned one-of-a-kind shops in the open-air Shopping Center. This shopping center is upscale and very nice. You will find a Coach Store, Bath and Body Works, Starbucks, a Whole Foods Market, Williams-Sonoma, plus so much more. There are quite a few great restaurants in this shopping center also. It is a great place to spend an afternoon shopping and having lunch with your friends. A little peace in the middle of the Fresno Mayhem, there is no Bulldog cafe anymore, but there is a great sushi restaurant and always entertaining Elbow Room.

4. Manchester Shopping Center

A secure place to take your morning walk with friends since it is located in central Fresno and there is an advantage of easy freeway access. It is more of a business complex rather than a shopping center. Manchester Shopping Center could still be a gem if it would attract well-known merchants. This mall needs to fix the lighting and rent all the spaces in order to attract more crowd. A few video game stores could bring on the teens. Maybe the stores with unique items would help too. The food court is the better part of the Manchester Shopping Center.
