The Shirakawa City line the Shogawa River Valley within the distant mountains that are wide from Gifu to Toyama Prefectures. It is declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, The village is legendary for its farmhouses, that are inbuilt a novel architectural model often called gassho. 1. Go Shirakawa from Kyoto

4. Go Shirakawa from Yokohama
By Train:
Take JR Tokaido Line for TAKASAKI from Yokohama station to Tokyo and then take Shinkansen Yamabiko 221 to Shin-Shirakawa and from Shin-Shirakawa take JR Tohoku Line for Fukushima to Shirakawa, the whole journey will take approximately 2.5 hours and cost around 3600yen.
