Santa Rosa is proud of its numerous beautiful parks equipped with all the necessary facilities offering entertainment, exercise and relaxation. Currently, there are nine community parks, but in the neighborhood there are also some great ones. Along with the parks, the city boasts wonderful gardens, where you can buy nice plants, learn a lot about them, or just enjoy their beauty.

1. Howarth Park

This extremely popular park is one of the perfect places to spend some time with your friends or family. There is something for everyone: trails to hike, places to go fishing, swimming or camping. There is also a train ride for kids. The park offers barbecue areas with lots of tables. On holidays, there are movie nights as well as different events. If you like playing tennis, there are excellent tennis courts. Come here and enjoy the day outdoors, having fun!

2. Spring Lake Park

A great place for hikers and walkers with a lot of exercise equipment along the trails. There are vast grassy areas with barbecue grills and tables for picnicking as well as fabulous children’s playgrounds. And of course, let’s not forget fishing. 3. Annadel State Park

This park is so enormous that you can spend a whole day hiking and walking and never come to the same trail twice. Its wonderful nature, amazing views, summits and wildlife make it exceptional. Here you can experience the greatest mountain biking ever! Lake Ilsanjo offers great fishing and picnic areas. Nature and wildlife lovers can enjoy a variety of beautiful flowers especially in spring. If you choose to spend the day here, remember, there is no camping here and barbecues and fires are not allowed.

4. Hood Mountain Regional Park

If you decide to come to this park for hiking, be sure that you are in great physical condition, since its trails are perfect for expert hikers. In the wilderness of this park you can find not only excellent hiking trails but also mountain biking and horse-riding ones. The great views of Santa Rosa and surrounding valleys are worth the difficult hike. You can even see the Golden Gate Bridge when you climb the Gunsight Rock. The park offers beautiful environmental campsites in remote sites you can reach only by hiking. So, if you are fit enough, come and enjoy the rare pygmy forest, attractive meadows, old historic ranches, lovely creeks and wild flowers.

5. Galvin Park

This is a perfect city park with lots of additions. It offers a golf course, lighted tennis courts, different sports fields, a fly fishing pond, a restaurant, kid’s playgrounds, picnic sites and let’s not forget – a dog park.
