Dakhla is the capital of the Moroccan administrative region, Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab. It is a city in Western Sahara. The population of the city as of 2014 is 70,482. There are a lot of adventurous things to do here in Dakhla.

1. Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is quite famous here in Dakhla especially in the northern end of the lagoon. Kitesurfing is very cheap in Dakhla yet transportation can be a little bit of problem but then it will be easier for you with a camper and a trailer to make your visit longer and much more comfortable.

2. Dakhla Peninsula Monument

Dakhla Peninsula Monument is a big square in Dakhla where you can relax and get away from the busy city. The place is really calm and peaceful, you can even read a book here. You will also see a lot of locals studying for their exams or reading books. The monument is almost like a tiled shadow too.

3. Spanish Cathedral

Just cross the road from Dakhla Peninsula Monument and you will be able to see the cathedral. The place is a very historical and ancient Spanish desert architecture. You will notice straight lines, curves, and domes. The cathedral is not used at the moment and is locked but it is still a good place to take pictures with.

4. Visit the oldest part of Dakhla

Make your visit an adventurous one by finding the oldest part in Dakhla. It is really tricky to find this place but is surely worth seeking out. The place has a very different atmosphere from the rest of the town. The houses around the area are a bit older too. Once you get there, I’m sure there is still a lot more to discover.

5. Buy something for remembrance

You should not forget to buy something that will remind you of this wonderful place. Somewhere between the Ensemble Artisanal you will be able to see a lot of workshops, jewelry stores and all sorts of stalls that sells a local hand-made product so you should really take the opportunity to buy one of yours.

6. Go to the Old Mosque and Dakhla centre

The mosque is a simple whitewashed mosque that has been built by the Spanish. This mosque is located at the heart of Dakhla so you would not have a problem finding this one. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants near the mosque too so after taking pictures and roaming around you should visit them too.

7. New Mosque

At the south of the town centre, you will be able to find a new mosque that has been built. This mosque is also a great place for you to visit but then if you are not Muslim you will not be able to go inside but just roaming around outside the mosque is already great since the views are magnificent too.

8. Have a swim or relax at Dakhla seafront

You might not see a lot of people swimming at this beach but it will never hurt to go and try but then you will still be able to appreciate the view while walking around and viewing the sunset and the areas around. Please be aware that the sun can be very strong in January so make sure to apply sunscreen or bring a hat and sunglasses with you.

9. Eat something good

Just around the corner of the Dakhla seafront and in the heart of the city you will be able to find a lot of restaurants and cafes and the best thing for you to do is to try them all out if you want to discover the best food in the place. The food is worth every penny you spend.

10. Book a private tour

There are still a lot of places and activities for you to go visit and do here in Dakhla and booking a private tour might just suit you well. The travel agency will organise everything for you and all that is left for you to do is just enjoy your entire journey in Dakhla.
